H= Honesty
When asked about characteristics of a leader, professionals always mention honesty. And, for good reason – would you follow a dishonest leader?
In communication, honesty sets apart leaders from wannabe leaders. “I don’t know but I will find out” or “No one’s ever asked that question before, I just don’t have an answer now” are powerful honest responses and far better than faking it.
When we present new information it is likely that we haven’t thought of every potential question and formulated an answer. Consider that a noble leader provides vision and direction but does not need to know precisely the next step throughout the entire journey. Leaders rely on their peers and their followers – honest answers admitting a human side of not knowing everything makes them even stronger.
Stand apart with honesty in your communication!
