Function Points and Use Cases

IFPUG 4.2 rules (One Day)
Course Description: This One-Day workshop will discuss how to apply FPA to Use Cases and illustrate how easy it can be to size use-case documents or other requirement documents, and focuses on issues and techniques for function point counts based on use cases. It starts with a review of FP 4.2 counting rules and then proceeds to address the major components of use cases as they pertain to function points. The day long agenda includes:
- Types and common elements of use-case methodologies.
- What are the components of a good use case and good requirements?
- How to handle non-functional and technical requirements.
- The role of users in use-case development and review.
- Sizing use cases for project estimating.
- Accounting for changes during development.
Suggested Prerequisites: FP 101 or equivalent (i.e., a basic function point counting course, typically 2 days)
Target Audience: Individuals who have previously taken function point training and who want to be confident in the ability to count FPs from use case or other requirements documents.
